If rain is forecasted, opting for a boat with indoor seating or retractable glass covers can allow you to stay dry. Check the wind direction so you don’t get stuck in the rain when boarding or disembarking. We have a number of different boats, which have all a very strong personality, and allow you to discover the “vrai Paris”, the authentic Paris.

However, many of the other stops require steps or have cobbled walkways. Wheelchair accessible toilets are available near their Eiffel Tower dock. These boats are probably the most popular on the Seine as they are the biggest and you don’t usually need a reservation to get on them. However, this makes them very popular with tourist groups so be prepared to share the boat with hundreds of other visitors. You can buy tickets online (use our link for a small discount), by phone, or at the dock. If you purchase your ticket online, you can collect your ticket before boarding at the Pont de l’Alma at the Compagnie des Bateaux-Mouches kiosk.

The Bateaux Parisiens propose similar boat tours to the Bâteaux Mouches. The fleet consists of fully glazed boats for an amazing panoramic view, and they can transport up to 250 passengers. Visitors can also stay outdoors on the deck, but space is limited. A river cruise allows you to see the landmarks from on the water, giving a perspective you can’t get walking the city streets. Fortunately, many cruises operate daily spring through fall. Having some flexible dates allows you to reschedule if the forecast looks unfavorable on a given night.

What's included

With your Paris Cruise ticket, the meals are prepared by French chefs to delight your taste buds. A special mention for the night cruises, which add to the enchantment of the moment. With your Paris Cruise ticket, you will discover a guided tour, enriched by the comments in audioguide.

Vedettes de Paris

With prices starting at 59€, this is definitely the least expensive dinner cruise in Paris. The meals are Parisian bistro-style, all cooked on-site, and with fresh and seasonal produce. Enjoy a 2-course menu starter, main, and dessert at your window-facing table, and upgrade it with wine or champagne. You can bring your own food and wine for a picnic or a French apéritif.

The Vedettes du Pont Neuf boats have a ramp for access and can accommodate step-free access and passengers with wheelchairs and mobility scooters. The access ramp is located a little further beyond the stairs and staff can help assist in finding the best place to board and exit. The website says the tickets (as of June 2023) are regularly 15 euros for adults and 9 euros for children 4-12. However, they often have a discount if you purchase the tickets online from their website.

First, it was within a 5-minute walking distance of where we were staying in Paris. Second, it provided the best prices and we booked tickets in advance online for only 16 euros total for the two of us. These tickets also gave us a lot of flexibility regarding when we used them as they were good for one year following purchase. If you are short on time in Paris and interested in seeing a lot of highlights in one day (and do a Seine River cruise), we recommend this full day walking tour.

Relaxing Way to Tour

French-waterways.com (founded 2003) is independent and impartial. It is not connected with VNF Voies Navigables de France, the national waterways management authority. Arriving in the impossibly pretty coastal town of Honfleur, you’ll immediately see why it provided much of the inspiration for Monet’s paintings and is celebrated as Eric Satie‘s birthplace. Tall, colourful houses line the harbour, while narrow streets wind their way through the ancient town.

It offers sightseeing cruises along the Seine past top attractions like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame Cathedral. Bateaux Parisiens also provides lunch, dinner, and entertainment cruises on board their fleet of glass-topped boats. At night, the boats are generally less crowded so you can relax and take in the sights. With fewer people and less noise, there’s a serene atmosphere to see the City of Light at its finest.

For some people who don’t want to use the bus system or metro, these can be an especially great and economical option. While you can buy tickets for most cruises the same day in-person near the dock, you may be able to save money by purchasing in advance. Often tickets are valid for 3 months to 1 year following purchase allowing you to choose the time and date of your Seine cruise.

Be sure to read recent customer reviews to find the one that is the best cruise for you. We also have a complete guide to our favourite Seine River dinner cruises to help you choose one. These allow more relaxed dining and take in wider views between the Paris landmarks, heading both downstream and back upstream. Vedettes de Paris provides smaller, more intimate boat tours on the Seine. They are a top-rated company for their personal service, smaller groups, and ability to dock closer to sights.

Wheelchair-accessible toilets are available on board the boat and in the boarding area. Tickets can be purchased online in advance, or at one of their two ticket offices at the Marina Arsenal or Bassin de la Villette. Canal cruises leave from the intersection of Rue Jean Poulmarch and Quai de Valmy.

The Seine River flows through the City of Light and empties at the English Channel near Le Havre, with ports that include Rouen and Honfleur, plus visits to places like Monet’s gardens in Giverny. Let us know what company you chose and let us know your feedback and tips for other readers trying to decide on a boat tour. Note that the cruises cannot operate in severe weather so during storms they are often canceled. They also cannot operate if the river levels get too high or low. If you want commentary during the cruise, you can hire the optional audioguide. We recommend bringing along your own headphones or earphones so you can better listen to the commentary.

This small bus, for only 35 people, can also navigate along the Seine River, so you have a bus tour and a Seine boat tour for the price of one! Starting from the Eiffel Tower, this Paris Seine River cruise comes with an individual audio guide that is available in 13 languages. The cruise lasts approximately 1 hour, and there’s the option to book it with a glass of champagne.
